Phala Phala farm dollar thieves to appear in court today

Three individuals accused of stealing foreign currency from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm are scheduled to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo this morning.

The trio is facing charges of housebreaking, theft, and conspiracy to steal.They are suspected of stealing $580,000 from the President’s farm in February 2020.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) previously informed the court that two additional arrests are expected soon.

This follows their request for the extradition of two Namibian nationals linked to the case.

Two of the accused, who are siblings Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph, have been granted bail. Floriana was employed as a domestic worker at the farm during the time of the theft.

Imanuwela David, believed to be the main conspirator, has been denied bail. The case is likely to be referred to trial soon.
