Nota Baloyi arrested in court for violating K.O court order
Controversial music executive Nota Baloyi was arrested on Thursday while appearing at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in connection with a rape charge. Baloyi, who was out on bail, was in court for a matter involving accusations from Itumeleng Bokaba.
The case had previously been postponed to verify WhatsApp chats between Baloyi and his accuser.
However, while in court, police issued a warrant for Baloyi’s arrest in relation to a separate matter involving rapper K.O (real name Ntokozo Mdluli).
The arrest was made after Baloyi was found to have violated a court order issued by K.O, which led to him being found in contempt of court.
Baloyi had ignored a court order obtained by K.O, which instructed him to refrain from sharing information implicating the rapper in the assassination of musician Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.
The order, which has been seen by the media, reads in part:
“The Sheriff of the court and the South African Police Service are directed to take the respondent into custody and to deliver the respondent to the Leeuwkop Prison or any other prison within Gauteng for a period of sixty days.”
K.O had secured the court interdict after Baloyi posted on social media, accusing him and his family of being involved in the murder of AKA.
On February 10, 2023, Baloyi made claims that K.O and his family, including K.O’s brother Siya Mdluli, who was AKA’s road manager, were involved in the recording and planning of the rapper’s murder in Durban.
Baloyi’s arrest took place while Bokaba, accompanied by her family, was in court for the rape case.
Baloyi was also there with his parents. The case was postponed until January 28 to allow the prosecution to consult with Bokaba.
Baloyi’s attorney, Matamela Khorommbi, explained that the prosecution had arranged to meet with Bokaba for consultation.
“The docket was not before court today; the court could not get hold of the investigating officer. As things stand, we do not know whether those WhatsApp chats were verified or not. So the matter has been postponed for docket and for the outcomes of the consultations,” Khorommbi said.
