Murdered cop pleaded with his wife and her younger lover not to kill him
A widow and her boyfriend have both been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of the widow’s husband.
Tubake Sister Maesela, 44, and her boyfriend Mmamoraba Jacob Mashiba, 41, were convicted for the March 2021 murder of Warrant Officer Mogokolodi Cleopass Digama, 53, who was based at the Apel police station in Limpopo.
According to Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo, the tragic incident occurred when Digama was shot and robbed of his SAPS pistol and vehicle while at his Somalian friend’s tuckshop.
The investigations later revealed that Digama was shot dead with an unknown pistol in Lerajane village, Mohlaletsi in the Sekhukhune district, and his vehicle was set on fire.
The court found Maesela and Mashiba guilty of the murder, which was described as brutal and senseless.
The motive behind the killing was not clear, but it was evident that the two had conspired to carry out the crime.
The judge condemned the actions of the perpetrators, stating that such heinous acts have no place in society.
The sentencing of Maesela and Mashiba serves as a reminder that justice will prevail, and those who commit such crimes will face the consequences of their actions.
The family of Digama has been left devastated by the loss of their loved one, and they hope that the sentence will bring some closure to the tragic chapter in their lives.
