Moment of silence for Luke Fleurs to be observed as PSL demands Kaizer Chiefs match against Chippa United to go ahead
Kaizer Chiefs’ upcoming match against Chippa United will proceed as scheduled, despite the team mourning the tragic loss of their defender, Luke Fleurs.
The game is set to take place at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium tomorrow at 3 pm, with the Amakhosi preparing to honor their fallen player in a poignant tribute.
Luke Fleurs, a 24-year-old defender who had recently joined Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent in October, tragically lost his life in a hijacking incident in Honeydew, Johannesburg, on Wednesday night.
Fleurs had yet to make his debut for the team, and his untimely passing has deeply affected the entire Chiefs community.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) released a statement yesterday announcing that a moment of silence will be observed in all games over the weekend to pay tribute to the late center-back.
In a show of solidarity and remembrance, the PSL expressed their condolences and support for Kaizer Chiefs during this difficult time.
“In tribute to Luke’s memory, a moment of silence will be observed at all DStv Premiership, Motsepe Foundation Championship, and DStv Diski Challenge fixtures this weekend,” stated the PSL.
