Minister Zizi Kodwa breaks silence about dodging bar bill

Minister Zizi Kodwa has been accused of leaving a pub in East London without paying his bill.

Kodwa’s name appeared on a viral list of patrons who allegedly dined and dashed from OHmi Gin Bar in the Eastern Cape city.

The list, which is circulating on social media, reveals that Kodwa owes the bar R1 300.

However, the minister denies the allegations.

The owner of the bar, Olwethu Hoyana, confirmed that the list is authentic but explained that it was unintentionally shared on social media.

An employee intended to share it on the bar’s WhatsApp group but accidentally made it their WhatsApp status.

The list was then screenshot by someone else and is now spreading rapidly across social media platforms.

Some of the people on the list are being tagged in social media posts.

Hoyana expressed regret over the incident and apologized to those whose names appeared on the list.

He emphasized that the bar would never intentionally embarrass its customers.

When asked about the incident, Kodwa’s spokesperson, Litha Mpondwana, described it as a “misunderstanding” and stated that it had been resolved.

Mpondwana asserted that the minister does not owe anything to OHmi.

The list includes other individuals, such as a mall security guard and well-known local DJs, who allegedly owe money to the bar.

The highest amount owed is R26 880, while the smallest is R60.

In total, the 38 individuals on the list owe a staggering R66 865 to Hoyana, accumulated between 7 October and 3 December.
