Manhunt launched for Joseph

Not a day passes without heartbreaking news of gender-based violence. As a result of a gender-based violence incident the Levubu Police have stepped up their search. They have launched a manhunt for the person responsible for the 77-year-old woman’s murder and the attempted murder of her 32-year-old daughter. The incident occurred on January 21, 2023, at around 1:00 in Mashau Bodwe village.

According to reports, the deceased, her daughter, and her three kids are said to have been asleep when trouble came. The deceased daughter’s suspected ex-boyfriend forcibly entered the home and began to hack both women with a panga. The suspect then drove off. He also forced their five-year-old child into a car belonging to the mother of ex- girlfriend.

Both victims had serious injuries and were brought to the hospital. Police opened two counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, and vehicle theft as a result of the horrible occurrence. The suspect was instantly the target of a manhunt.

The car was later discovered abandoned. Shortly thereafter, the child was also safely located at his father’s residence in Mashamba village, but the suspect had vanished.

Sadly, the 77-year-old woman ultimately died from her injuries, and the case was changed from attempted murder to murder. Rose Mabasa is the name of the decreased.

Police asking for the public’s assistance

Police are calling upon Mr Mthandazo Joseph Baskete from Mashamba village in Mukondeni outside Louis Trichardt, who was a taxi driver in the area, to report to the nearest police station as they believe he can assist the Police with the investigation in this matter.

Anyone with information that help in the manhunt launched of the suspect should urgently contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Mutshutshu Edward Mudogwa on 072 107 6731 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the nearest police station or use MySAPS app.
