Man who killed a Durban thigh vendor he had hired caught trying to flee the country
A Chinese national on the run for allegedly killing a sex worker and injuring three others has been linked to a burglary case in La Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal.
Chong Cheng, 36, was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport attempting to flee the country on 1 May.
The Durban police wanted Cheng for murder and four counts of attempted murder.
Cheng’s alleged crime spree began on the night of 25 April when he reportedly hired a sex worker in the Durban area.
According to reports, Cheng became violent during the encounter, ultimately killing the sex worker and injuring three others who were present at the scene.
The motive behind Cheng’s violent outburst remains unclear, but authorities are working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident.
In a shocking turn of events, Cheng has now been linked to a burglary case in La Lucia, a suburb in KwaZulu-Natal.
The burglary reportedly took place just days before the violent encounter that resulted in the death of the sex worker.
