Magesi FC shockingly beat Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates unbeaten streak ended with a surprising defeat to Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup.

The match took place at Orlando Stadium, where Magesi scored three goals in the first half.

Magesi FC had an impressive victory over Orlando Pirates.

Despite a late comeback from Pirates, who managed to score two goals, they lost 3-2.

Pirates entered the game as favourites, having gone 11 matches without losing.

However, the atmosphere changed when Magesi’s Delano Abrahams scored the first goal in the 32nd minute.

Thabiso Sesane then accidentally scored an own goal, making it 2-0 in the 39th minute.

Just before half-time, Sesane fouled a Magesi player, leading to a penalty.

Although Sipho Chaine saved the initial shot, Edmore Chirambadare scored on the rebound, making it 3-0.

In the final minutes, Kabelo Dlamini scored for Pirates in the 85th minute, giving them hope.

Then, in the 88th minute, Evidence Makgopa scored again, bringing the score to 3-2. A potential equaliser from Mohau Nkota was disallowed for offside, and Magesi held on for the win.

Magesi’s coach, Clinton Larsen, was praised for his tactical skills that outsmarted Pirates’ coach, Jose Riveiro.

Magesi’s strong first-half performance helped them secure a place in the quarter-finals.

What’s next for Magesi FC and Pirates?

The big win at Orlando Stadium is a huge confidence boost for Magesi as they prepare for their next game against Cape Town City in the PSL.

For Orlando Pirates, getting knocked out might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, as it will mean fewer matches in their current season.
