Here are six recommendations for reducing the dangers brought on by load shedding:

  • Use surge protection: During a power loss, electrical surges are one of the leading causes of equipment damage. A surge protection device installed can help limit some damage in unanticipated circumstances. Have a surge protection device installed at the power outlet for the electronic gadget or, alternatively, at the electrical distribution board.
  • Make sure your alarm system is operational and that the backup battery can sustain the system’s power in the event of load shedding.
  • Charge your smartphone, laptop, and tablet: Before any scheduled blackouts, make sure your smartphone, laptop, and tablet are completely charged. As soon as the electricity comes back on, make sure to charge them once more. Another smart move is to keep a power bank or other emergency phone charger handy. This is useful during protracted power outages.
  • Get a small LP gas bottle and lamp so you may use it for cooking and lighting. It can be used for cooking and boiling water in addition to providing good lighting for a sizable area. To produce hot beverages, it’s a smart idea to keep hot water in a thermal flask. If you are aware of when a scheduled blackout will occur, you should also think about preparing meals in advance.
