KZN businesswoman killed just days after another was found dead in the boot of her car
The city of Pietermaritzburg has been rocked by a disturbing trend of brutal killings targeting women, leaving residents in a state of disbelief.
In less than a month, three women have fallen victim to heinous acts of violence, sparking fear and outrage within the community.
The Witness reports that one of the recent victims, a 45-year-old businesswoman named Nokuthula Hlophe, was ruthlessly gunned down in front of her own children in her home in Dambuza, near Edendale.
Intruders broke into her house, demanded money, and when she had none to give, they callously shot her multiple times in front of her two daughters.
Sergeant Sifiso Gwala, the uMgungundlovu District police spokesperson, revealed that around four suspects were involved in the incident, with one standing guard outside the house.
Despite the police opening a murder case, no arrests have been made yet, leaving the community on edge.
The tragic killings don’t end there, as the city also witnessed the murder of a well-known paediatrician, Dr. Zamambo Mkhize, whose body was found in the boot of her car in Imbali J-Section.
She had been shot in the head and showed signs of assault, with her belongings missing.
Another victim, Snenhlanhla Dlamini, a second-year student at Durban University of Technology, was shot dead during a robbery after attending a social event.
Additionally, businesswoman Nozipho Sithole was fatally shot at her tavern by individuals pretending to be customers.
