Kaizer Chiefs striker admits that the players let down the club

In a recent admission, Kaizer Chiefs forward Ranga Chivaviro acknowledged the perceived underperformance by the club this season.

Stressing the importance of securing a spot in the top eight, Chivaviro spoke about the upcoming DStv Premiership match against Polokwane City and what it means for the club.

Chiefs are scheduled to lock horns with Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium in their second-last game of the season. Both teams are neck and neck, placed at the eight and ninth position respectively.

With an advantageous goal difference, Chiefs hold the edge ahead of their final season game against already-relegated Cape Town Spurs.

“We have personally felt the sting of underachievement as a club this season. We fell short of our targeted goals. Nevertheless, we have much left to play for,” said Chivaviro during a media open-day at Naturena.

Determined and hopeful, Chivaviro added, “We want to win our last home game against Polokwane, end on a high, and secure our spot in the top eight.”

Noting the crucial nature of the upcoming fixture, Chivaviro expressed optimism and readiness to face the challenge head-on.

“It’s a monumental game for us, and we are confident of victory. We understand the stakes. We aim to secure a respectable standing, ideally within the top eight.”

Chivaviro, a 31-year-old player, who transitioned from Marumo Gallants to Chiefs after scoring an impressive 17 goals from 30 games, has managed four goals in 18 league games for Amakhosi to date.

In spite of initially joining Chiefs with an injury, Chivaviro is optimistic about regaining his former glory.

Determined to wrap up the season on a high note, he is keen on dismissing the prevailing opinion that he is not utilised effectively at Naturena.
In conclusion, the striving of Chiefs to secure a respectful finish in the season, despite the challenging conditions, underscores the essence of persistence in sports.

Guided by shared ambitions and team spirit, the Kaizer Chiefs look forward to turning the odds in their favour in the forthcoming crucial fixtures.
