Kaizer Chiefs legend crucifies Sithebe

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane has sparked debate by urging the club to release Siyethemba Sithebe, claiming the struggling midfielder isn’t up to par for the Soweto giants.

Sithebe joined Chiefs at the beginning of last season from AmaZulu but has failed to live up to expectations, leaving his future at the club uncertain.

Sikhakhane, who donned the Amakhosi jersey between 2005 and 2007, believes Sithebe’s performances haven’t warranted his place in the squad.

“They can release him,” Sikhakhane stated bluntly in an interview with FARPost.

“In games that he has played for Kaizer Chiefs, there’s nothing special he has done.”

He further questioned Chiefs’ recruitment strategy, suggesting the club often signs players based on short-term flashes of brilliance rather than long-term potential and fit within the team’s structure.

“They don’t look at whether you’re going to fit in their style or in their structure,” Sikhakhane commented.

“So, for Sithebe, he hasn’t been playing for two years and he can’t prove himself in the last ten games. What was he doing all along?”

Sikhakhane believes a return to AmaZulu would be beneficial for Sithebe, where he previously showcased his talent and enjoyed greater success.

“I think he’d do well at AmaZulu,” he advised. “I’d advise him to go back.”

These comments have ignited discussions among fans and pundits alike, with some agreeing that Sithebe hasn’t met expectations, while others believe he deserves more time to prove himself.
