Kaizer Chiefs fined by PSL for repeated fan misbehaviour

Kaizer Chiefs have been fined R150,000 by the PSL Disciplinary Committee (DC) for ongoing fan misbehaviour.

The club appeared before the PSL DC on Friday and admitted to the charges of spectator misconduct.

The fine comes after the chaotic scenes during Chiefs’ 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-finals at FNB Stadium two weeks ago. Chiefs’ supporters, upset with their team’s performance and the referee’s decisions, threw objects and even ran onto the pitch.

This isn’t the first time Chiefs have been punished for fan misbehaviour this season. Just a month ago, the club was also fined R150,000 for a similar incident during a Betway Premiership match against Sundowns, which Sundowns won 2-1.

This is the fifth time in the past two seasons that Amakhosi have been penalised for fan misconduct. After the latest incident, Chiefs apologised and confirmed that three fans had been arrested.
