Irregular appointments in Limpopo raise serious suspicions
Public Protector, Kholeka Gcaleka, has recently released a report exposing the irregular appointment of workers in the Limpopo Social Development Department.
The report reveals that certain candidates were appointed to positions in the Polokwane and Mavambe child and youth care centers without meeting the minimum requirements.
This damning report has given the department a deadline of 30 days to implement the Public Protector’s recommendations, which include terminating the irregular contracts.
Joshua Kwapa, the department’s spokesperson, has stated that they are currently working on an implementation plan.
“We have put together an implementation plan in line with the recommendations of the Public Protector. The plan will be sent to the office of the Public Protector, and therefore, we are not at liberty at this stage to disclose the content,” said Kwapa.
This report highlights the importance of transparency and accountability within government institutions.
Irregular appointments not only undermine the integrity of the hiring process but also have a negative impact on the quality of services provided.
