16-year-old old foreign national arrested for rape of 3-year-old boy

A 16 year-old foreign national is in police custody in relation to the alleged rape of a 3 year-old boy in the village of Sasekani, Ritavi District, on Monday, May 13, 2024.

The incident occurred at around 15:00 when the victim went to play in his neighbour’s yard.Upon returning home, he informed his grandmother that the suspect, who is a friend of his brother’s, had raped him.

The grandmother then went to the suspect’s father to investigate the matter, but the suspect denied the allegations. The matter was reported to the police, and the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical examination.

The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in Sasekani Village.

It is expected that the Probation Officer will soon compile an assessment report regarding the suspect for the purpose of the court proceedings.
