Grieving family robbed at gunpoint during funeral

A grieving family was left in utter shock after mourners were robbed at gunpoint during a funeral.

According to reports, six armed men allegedly robbed the family of Sikhonana in Alexandria on Saturday. They took off with the food which was prepared for the community to eat after the burial.

According to a family member, the men started scouting on Thursday as she recognised two of the armed robbers.

“In the morning we started the service at about 06:00 because our graveyard is very far so we were supposed to finishing at 07:00 but they finished at 07:10. While everyone was out to the cemetery, we were left behind to prepare the food for the community to eat when coming back.”

“Soon after preparing, six armed men came in and said Kushubile zonke Phansi (Things have gone bad, everyone lie down) we did axactly and they took 4 big pots of Pap and all the meat in including the Kinds of Salads we had prepared.”

Armed robbers steal funeral food

It is alleged that the robbers then went into the house and took the money of offerings which was estimated at R260+ Cents and they also robbed prople off their phones and left. No casualties were reports besides trauma.

The suspects were driving a white AmaRok Van with registration no KW 91 YP GP.
