Erasmus continues search for new club after Spurs talks fail
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus is still looking for a team after failing to reach an agreement with Cape Town Spurs.
The 34-year-old trained with the Spurs for a few weeks to stay fit and possibly sign with coach Ernst Middendorp’s side.
Although Spurs showed interest in signing Erasmus, they couldn’t meet his demands.
Since leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of the 2023/24 season, Erasmus has been linked with several clubs, including a possible return to Cape Town City.
Meanwhile, Spurs are currently ninth in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, six points behind the leaders.
They will play away against Kruger United this weekend.
Middendorp’s team has not won in their last three matches, and the German coach has openly criticised the officiating in the league, claiming that referees are influencing match outcomes.
After their recent 1-1 draw against Upington City, which featured several controversial moments, Middendorp and the club expressed their frustrations on social media.
