Denise Zimba opens up about betrayal and loss after divorce
Actress Denise Zimba has revealed how she faced betrayal from those close to her over the past year. Zimba, who recently divorced her German husband, Jakob Schlichtig, shared her emotional journey during her birthday celebration.
In June, Sunday World reported that Zimba ended her marriage after catching her husband, Schlichtig, inappropriately texting another woman while indulging in inappropriate behaviour.
She also mentioned that Schlichtig refused to buy a plane ticket for her mother to visit from Germany to help with their children, but instead spent €900 on his sick cat’s medical treatment.
Zimba is also involved in a legal battle over the custody of their two children. Schlichtig is seeking a court order to force Zimba to return the children to Germany, claiming she took them without his consent.
Zimba has opposed this application, filing papers in the Joburg High Court.
After the divorce, Zimba kept quiet for some time but recently opened up about the difficulties she’s faced in the past year.
She shared that she had been lied to and lost everything she had worked hard for, forcing her to rebuild from scratch.
Reflecting on the year, Zimba said, “The best thing I could have ever done for myself was to walk away. In this past year alone, I lost my family that I gave so much of myself to have. Close friends betrayed me at levels I cannot even comprehend. Those I loved the most and held close to my heart abandoned me and did not choose me.”
She went on to express gratitude for another year of life, saying, “I am blessed with another year of life, reminding me how precious life truly is. And that you can always start over and try again. I am excited to do things differently and not betray myself again. My girls deserve a thriving mama who respects herself enough to do right by herself.”
