The former member of the iconic Jozi group, and the voice behind the hit “All Eyes on Me,” now faces a daunting road to recovery.

According to a report by Zimoja, the Mampe family reached out to close friends for financial assistance to cover Da L.E.S’s medical bills.

Subsequently, a source disclosed to TimesLIVE that Da L.E.S was transferred from a private to a public hospital.

“Half his face is affected. He can’t talk, he’s just lying there, it’s bad. They were taking him out of a private hospital and to a public hospital. I’ve been there and there’s nothing wrong with that hospital. The machines are working and the nurses are amazing. It’s going to be a while before he recovers. I think it’s like Lira’s situation,” the source shared.

Efforts to contact Da L.E.S’s mother, Priscilla Mampe, for further comments are ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.

The news of Da L.E.S’s condition and the family’s request for donations have sparked significant reactions on social media. While many fans and followers have shown immense support, some have raised questions and concerns.

However, some social media users have expressed mixed feelings about the family’s request for financial assistance.

Twitter User @CynicalFan tweeted, “It’s really sad about Da L.E.S, but it’s surprising to see his family asking for donations. Where are all the celebrity friends now? #JustSaying”

Instagram User @RealTalkZA commented, “I understand the situation is dire, but shouldn’t there be some sort of health insurance for situations like this? Prayers up for Da L.E.S though. #HealthIsWealth”

Facebook User Sipho Ndlovu added, “It’s a tough time for the family, and they should get all the support they can. But it does make you think about how prepared we are for emergencies. #LifeIsUnpredictable”
