Craig Martin is not a good signing, says Junior Khanye

Junior Khanye, a former winger for Kaizer Chiefs, has spoken his opinion on Orlando Pirates’ acquisition of Craig Martin, a winger for Cape Town City.

After signing contracts for two and a half seasons this week, Martin and Ndumiso Mabena were both revealed as new additions by the Soweto giants.

Khanye, though, has questioned why the Buccaneers chose Martin, who they are said to have pursued for a number of seasons before being able to sign him.

“Craig Martin is not a good signing, no, very energetic. There are better players that Pirates can play at the wing-back,” Khanye told iDiskiTimes.

After months of rumours, Mabena, 35, eventually reached an agreement with the Buccaneers, whom he left in 2014 to join Platinum Stars.

Since being released from his contract at Royal AM in September, the attacking player, who was significant throughout a career that also took him to Bloemfontein Celtic, has trained with Pirates.

After a disagreement with Royal, who wanted to sell Mabena to Swallows FC, he left the Durban club.

Martin, 29, will move from Cape Town City to Pirates during the January transfer window, according to Bucs.
