Clinton Larsen claim Magesi FC lacks quality despite win over Orlando Pirates
Despite securing an impressive 3-2 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup on Saturday, Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has admitted that his team still lacks at least four to five quality players.
Magesi FC, who were promoted to the Betway Premiership after winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, stunned South African football by defeating the Buccaneers at Orlando Stadium.
However, Larsen, who orchestrated the victory, stated that Dikwena tša Meetse still needs several quality players to thrive in the top flight.
“We’ll keep trying to educate the people around us, trying to improve the club, and I think with this group of young players, the potential is there.
“Yes, we’re short of four to five really, really quality players, but with the limited budgetary constraints that we have as a club, it’s very difficult to bring those types of players in,” Larsen said.
Larsen emphasised that Magesi will continue to work with the players currently at their disposal.
“So, we will keep working with what we have got and try to squeeze every last bit of potential out of the players that we have.”
What’s next for Clinton Larsen’s side
Magesi will face TS Galaxy in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup and will aim to replicate their impressive performance against the Rockets.
