In a recent statement, Kannemeyer expressed, “Chiefs will not be thinking straight [if they look for another coach]. Why go for another coach while he’s still there now? I think they should just give him a permanent job and trust him.”

He further emphasized, “Why go look outside? If you look in the last nine years, they’ve changed coaches, and it ‘didn’t work.

Obviously, then it’s not the coaches, but a bigger problem is within the group. Is the group good enough?”

Kannemeyer sees Cavin Johnson’s interim tenure as a positive start, stating:

“I will say so [it’s a good start], but there’s still a long way to go. I don’t think people must get excited; the coach said it himself.

“They [players] must stay calm and keep on working hard. Hopefully, he [Johnson] can bring in more results.”

With seven matches under his belt as Chiefs’ interim coach, Johnson has secured four wins, a draw, and two defeats.

The team currently stands sixth in the Premier Soccer League standings, but their chances of contending for the league title seem challenging.

The team currently trail 11 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played three games less.
