Another local businessman killed by foreign nationals in Ratanda
Another tragic incident occurred in Ratanda as another business owner, Fani Shabangu, was fatally shot on Monday evening amid ongoing violence in the area.
According to Scrolla.Africa, Fani, who owned a bottle store, fell victim to the attacks during a period of load shedding. His brother, Bafana Shabangu, expressed his devastation through a voice note sent in a community WhatsApp group message.
“They have killed my brother, they have killed him. They didn’t even give him a chance to be alive. My brother is dead. Fani is no more,” he said.
According to a member of the Ratanda Spaza Business Forum, who preferred to remain anonymous due to him being in hiding, the recent killing in Ratanda mirrors the pattern of previous incidents where individuals were also murdered last month.

“The assassins wait for load shedding at night and target their victims,” said the forum member.
A local resident in the area reported that Fani was shot at his bottle store in front of his twin boys.
Early this month, the story of four members of the Ratanda Spaza Business Forum who were Killed within two weeks sent shockwaves throughout the country.
Ratanda residents headed by the Ratanda Spaza Business Forum leaders have been allegedly victimised and killed by foreign nationals spaza shop owners.
