Beware of fraudsters like Ntabiseng

Due to a high unemployment rate, people are more likely to make every effort to get employment even if it means breaking the law. This one woman was no exception as she tried to defraud businesses with job openings by changing the names on the matric certificate.

In an effort to successfully apply for jobs, Ntabiseng Rosette Methle allegedly hand write her name on a copy of another person’s matriculation certificate.

In this attempt to claim someone else’s qualifications, Ntabiseng actually performed a poor job. This should serve as a lesson that you need to strive for qualifications and attend school in order to obtain jobs in the right way.

When applying for jobs using internett cafés, beware not to carelessly leave copies of crucial document such degrees, matric certificates, driver’s licenses, and identification cards. This shows how easily fraud may be committed using another person’s information.

Companies should also beware of such scammer and request original copies during interviews and verify these documents with the correct institutions.

Unemployment statistics

Statistics South Africa has published the results of the Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) for the third quarter of 2022.

The data shows that the country gained 204,000 between the second and third quarters of 2022, with the total number of persons employed up 1.3% to 15.8 million people.

The official unemployment rate decreased by 1.0 percentage points from 33.9% in the second quarter of 2022 to 32.9% in the third quarter of 2022. The unemployment rate, according to the expanded definition of unemployment, also decreased by 1.0 percentage points to 43.1%.
