Police officer gets on the wrong side of the law
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has warned that dishonest and corrupt officials will suffer the consequences of their criminal conduct. This warning comes after a 47-year-old Police officer made an appearance in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court today. The police officer is attached to the South African Police Service (SAPS) Rust De Winter.
Warrant Officer Matshidiso Virginia Sealetsa was granted R3000-00 bail upon appearance before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court. She is facing charges of theft. She will appear again on 1 August 2023, in the meantime police investigations will continue.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday 5 July 2023. It is alleged that between 30 September 2022 and 24 February 2023, Warrant Officer Sealetsa, was on duty as a Visible Policing Commander. She was tasked with the collection of bail monies, traffic fines and admission of guilt fines from the Community Service Centre to deliver to Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court.
According to reports, the Warrant Officer failed to deliver the monies to the clerk of court to deposit. It is alleged that she used the money to cater to her personal needs.

A suspicion were raised during an inspection when the receipts were not attached on fourteen occasions. The receipts were amounting to over (R 29 000-00.) Twenty nine thousand rands.
This prompted the management to conduct a thorough investigation which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
“The arrest of the suspect will serve as warning that corrupt employees will be rooted out and be dealt with accordingly”, said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
