World Cup 2022: Germany SHOCKED by Japan and their ex-Arsenal striker

World Cup 2022 has thrown up another shock. Japan have beaten Germany, and five of their starting 11 are based in the German Bundesliga.

Japan defeated Germany 2-1 despite trailing at halftime to win matchday one of the 2022 World Cup.

Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty gave the Germans the lead, and they had the opportunity to increase it through a commanding first-half performance.

It’s unclear what coach Hajime Moriyasu of Japan said at halftime, but it obviously had an impact. The first period saw Japan completely outplayed, while the second was a completely different scenario.

Additionally deserving of praise is Moriyasu, whose substitutes were excellent. Ritsu Doan of Freiburg scored the equalizer, and ex-Arsenal striker Takuma Asano of VfL Bochum scored a magnificent winner to set off wild celebrations in Japan. The two goal scorers were Bundesliga super subs.
