Bafana come from behind to take 3rd win in a row
Thanks to a brace by Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Bafana Bafana defeated Mozambique 2-1 after falling behind 1-0 at the half to earn their third straight victory.
After Telinho received a poor ball from Ronwen Williams, the visitor almost scored, but Telinho only managed to hit the post.
Following a terrible backless by Rushing in the 12th minute, Mozambique scored first. Nelson Daniel Divrassone calmly slid the ball into the goal after De Reuck handed it to him free in front of Williams.
After the first 20 minutes, Bafana grabbed control of the game but didn’t produce much. The greatest opportunity came from a cross by Zakhele Lepasa, which Bongokuhle Hlongwane mishandled in the penalty area.
With a free kick identical to his goal in the MTN8 final, Monnapule Saleng tested the Mozambique goalkeeper after 35 minutes, but Ivane was up to the challenge.
In the 56th minute, South Africa finally equalised when Hlongwane deflected a Nyiko Mobbie cross into the net from within the penalty area.
After a nice passing exchange with Themba Zwane and an outstanding effort from inside the box, Hlongwane finished off his hat trick just two minutes later.
In the 67th minute, Mozambique came close to tying the score thanks to an excellent attempt from outside the area that hit the crossbar.
Teboho Mokoena’s attempt to give Bafana a third goal in the 85th minute was stopped by the Mozambique goalie.
