Amakhosi need Fagrie Lakay according to Permall
Shaun Permall, a former forward for Amakhosi, says he would have preferred to see the team pursue Fagrie Lakay, but he is adamant that there is still time for them to bring in a striker before the transfer window closes.
Despite signing two new stickers this season, Ashley du Preez and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, Amakhosi have struggled up front. Since joining the Soweto giants, Du Preez has scored twice, but Bimenyimana has yet to score in Amakhosi colours.
In seven Dstv Premiership games, Amakhosi has scored five goals, and coach Arthur Zwane has expressed his concern over his team’s performance.
“They really need a more effective striker. They have playmakers on the squad, and they are producing opportunities, but they still require a chance taker. I anticipated Fagrie Lakay signing with the Chiefs. Lakay would have been the best fit for the Chiefs, “Permall said to the Siya crew.
“South Africa is lacking. We require sticker coaches, similar to what Benny is doing at Manchester United. It would significantly alter things. Striking is specialised position. Chiefs should consider signing a stricter because they have real chances, but they also need someone who will take them.
