Road rage incident in Mahikeng: Two men stab each other to death in parking dispute

Police are investigating a tragic road rage incident that led to the deaths of two men in the Mahikeng Central Business District on Saturday afternoon, October 12, 2024. The confrontation, reportedly sparked by a dispute over parking, escalated into a violent altercation resulting in both individuals sustaining fatal stab wounds.

Authorities received reports of the incident around 13:30 on Martin Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 34-year-old man lying on the ground, bleeding from his neck. Emergency services were called to the scene, but paramedics pronounced him dead shortly thereafter. The second man, aged 32, was transported to a nearby hospital by his relatives, where he also succumbed to his injuries.

The motive behind the altercation is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that a disagreement over a parking space triggered the violent exchange. Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Sello has condemned the incident, emphasizing the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully.

“We urge community members to exercise patience and engage in peaceful dialogue rather than resorting to violence,” said Lieutenant General Sello.

The tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with road rage and the potential consequences of uncontrolled anger. As the investigation continues, police are appealing to any witnesses to come forward with information that could assist in the case.

Residents are encouraged to prioritise safety and find constructive ways to manage disputes, particularly in high-stress situations like parking conflicts.
