50-year-old policeman commits suicide

A 50-year-old police officer was tragically found dead in his home on Peach Road, Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, early Thursday morning. The officer, who was a member of the Verulam South African Police Service (SAPS) Detective Branch, was discovered in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head, lying in a pool of blood.

The injury is suspected to be self-inflicted, although the circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear. Paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived at the scene and confirmed the officer’s death.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full details surrounding the tragic event.
