Jose Peseiro who guided Nigeria to the Afcon final becomes frontrunner for Kaizer Chiefs top job
Jose Peseiro, the former coach of the Nigerian national team, has emerged as a potential candidate for the Kaizer Chiefs coaching job.
After leading Nigeria to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, Peseiro has caught the attention of the struggling South African club.
Amakhosi have been experiencing a rough patch, with disappointing results in recent matches and an early exit from the Nedbank Cup.
Fans have been calling for changes in the technical team, and Peseiro’s name has been added to the list of potential replacements.
Peseiro, who was previously linked to Kaizer Chiefs in 2018, is known for his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his players.
He received praise for the way he coached the Super Eagles during the Afcon, culminating in a thrilling penalty shootout victory over South Africa in the semi-finals.
According to sources, Peseiro is keen on coaching in the South African Premier Soccer League and has expressed interest in the Kaizer Chiefs job.
His representative has reportedly submitted his CV to the club, confirming his desire to take on the challenge.
“Jose Peseiro is one of the coaches whose CVs are with Kaizer Chiefs, that I can confirm with you. If you ask me, yes, he has applied for the job through his representatives in South Africa and he is interested in the job,” said a source familiar with the situation.
Currently unattached after his contract with Nigeria expired at the end of the Afcon, Peseiro is available to take on a new coaching role.
With his track record of success and experience at the highest level, he could be the right man to lead Kaizer Chiefs back to glory.
