A tavern owner from Hlabekisa village near Leroro village in Graskop stands accused of kidnapping and brutally assaulting her employee, Enock Sebitane.

Enock, who worked at the White House tavern in Hlabekisa, was allegedly abducted in Barberton and brought back to Hlabekisa, where he was viciously beaten by the owner’s bodyguards at a local cemetery and left for dead.

The tavern owner, Phumlile Modipane, accused Enock of stealing approximately R15,000 from her establishment.

According to reports, Modipane has a history of accusing her employees of theft, particularly around payday, seemingly to avoid paying their salaries.

In this instance, after accusing three workers of theft and threatening them with violence, they fled and went into hiding. However, they were tracked down by Modipane and her bodyguards, who then subjected Enock to a brutal beating before abandoning him at the cemetery.

Enock, who believes that he was left for dead, is currently recovering in an undisclosed hospital. Meanwhile, a case of attempted murder has been opened at the Dintjie police station.

In a surprising turn of events, it alleged that Modipane attempted to suppress the story about her actions and offered payment of an undisclosed sum of mob.
