Agent was hours away from securing a lucrative contact for the late Mokoena
Mulovhedzi revealed that he was on the verge of securing a deal for Mokoena before his untimely demise. The news of Mokoena’s passing was confirmed by his family earlier this week.
Mulovhedzi expressed his deep sorrow, stating that Mokoena was not just a client, but also a brother to him.
They had a close relationship both on and off the field. He recounted a recent lunch with Mokoena and Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender, Mothobi Mvala, where they discussed plans to invest in property.
“Luckyboy was like a brother to me, he was more than a client. We had a relationship on and off the field. I remember the other day we were at Eastgate Mall with Mothobi Mvala at Nandos and we were busy giving each other advice that we need to invest in property. That’s what we were planning and before he passed on we were planning about his next move when he gets better,” Mulovhedzi shared.
Mulovhedzi had been working towards securing a transfer for Mokoena, with potential moves to Maritzburg or AmaZulu in the last window. However, Mokoena fell ill and was unable to proceed with the deals.
Describing Mokoena as a dedicated professional, Mulovhedzi recalled their close bond and how Mokoena would reach out whenever he faced football challenges.
He praised Mokoena’s discipline and commitment to his training, never missing a session.
During their time together, Mulovhedzi facilitated Mokoena’s moves to various clubs, including Highlands Park, TS Galaxy, and Sekhukhune United.
Mokoena began his football career with Bidvest Wits juniors before joining Mpumalanga Black Aces in 2013.
Throughout his career, he also played for Chippa United, Garankuwa United, Real Kings FC, and FC Cape Town.
