Murder accused allegedly has a criminal record dating back to 2003
The Mokopane Magistrate’s Court in South Africa was presented with shocking details about the criminal history of Tsholofelo Joseph Motsoane, the man accused of the murder of lawyer and former MP Schalk Pienaar.
Motsoane’s criminal record dates back to 2003 and includes convictions for crimes such as attempted murder, robbery, and theft.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Motsoane had previously served sentences for his crimes and had even escaped from custody while awaiting trial on two occasions.
These disturbing details were presented by the state, which argued against granting Motsoane bail.
The state expressed concerns that he would abscond and tamper with evidence if released.
One of the charges against Motsoane is conspiracy to commit murder, and he is also alleged to have been the driver of the getaway car in the 2022 murder of Schalk Pienaar.
However, the investigation has yet to locate three other suspects involved in the crime, and the murder weapon has not been found.
The revelations about Motsoane’s criminal past highlight the importance of thorough background checks and the need for effective measures to prevent repeat offenders from committing further crimes.
