6 Teenage boys have been arrested for murder in Free State
Six teenage boys, aged between 16 and 19, were arrested for murder in the Somerspost section of Zamdela.
In the early hours of Sunday, May 12, 2024, at approximately 12:30 AM, Zamdela police received a report about an unknown male who had been assaulted and left lying on the ground at a house in Somerspost.
Upon arriving at the specified location, police discovered a 25-year-old man lying motionless on the ground. He had sustained head injuries and was declared dead by emergency services.
Initially, there were no leads on the suspects. However, through a thorough investigation, police obtained information on their whereabouts. Following this lead, officers located all six suspects in a shack in Somerspost and arrested them.
The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate Court today on murder charges.
In a seperate incident, a 35-year-old suspect handed himself through his legal representative to the police on Sunday, 12 May 2024, after he evaded arrest during the attack of a police officer and three other victims.
The suspect was charged, detained and added as accused number two on both Delmas cases. He is to face charges of murder of an off duty officer, three counts of attempted murder, armed robbery of a service pistol, and cash.
The suspect will be joined with the first suspect arrested on Saturday. Both will be appearing before the Delmas/Victor Khanye Magistrate Court on Monday, 13 May 2024. Investigation continues.
