4 men pounce on a teenage girl in a taxi

Police in Levubu, Limpopo have launched a manhunt after a 15-year-old girl was raped in Tshakhuma, next to Tshiemuemu Secondary school.

The incident occurred on Saturday when the girl was on an errand to buy medication for her mother.

According to police reports, the victim left her home in Tshakhuma Masire village to purchase medication at the local pharmacy.

After a few hours, her mother called her cellphone, but she did not respond.

The mother then received a call from a local pastor who had found the girl walking alone and crying on the street.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim boarded a minibus taxi after buying the medication.

However, the taxi was occupied by four men who drove in the wrong direction until they stopped near Tshiemuemu Secondary School.

The suspects then took the girl to nearby bushes where she was raped by one of them. She was later released, and the suspects fled the scene.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba stated, “A manhunt has since been launched for their arrest.”

Acting provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has condemned the incident and has tasked the investigative team with tracking down and apprehending the wanted men.
