2 men aged 75 and 92 arrested for murder at an old age home

Two men, aged 75 and 92, are scheduled to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 3, 2024, in connection with the alleged murder of a 75-year-old man.

The suspects were apprehended in Jericho village outside Brits on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Reports indicate that the victim and the suspects resided at the same old age home.

An altercation allegedly took place around 4:00 AM on May 30, 2024. According to information, the victim was returning from the bathroom when he encountered the suspects, who were heading to the bathroom.

The victim allegedly bumped into one of the suspects, who then struck him with his crutches. The other suspect reportedly joined in, and together they assaulted the victim. The owner of the old age home was notified, and the police were called.

The victim, who sustained head injuries, was transported to the hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival. The two suspects were subsequently arrested for murder.

Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Sello Kwena expressed his shock and extended his condolences to the victim’s family.
