Zambian football star survives accident. Car was being driven by unidentified woman who died on the scene

In a recent statement released by the Football Association of Zambia, new details have emerged regarding the tragic road accident involving renowned Zambian footballer Rainford Kalaba.

The media indicate that the incident took place at 12:20 PM along the Great North Road at Kafue S Corners near Kafue Quarry, as confirmed by the Zambian police.

The accident involved a Howo truck horse driven by Mr. Muyunda Isaac and a Mercedes Benz car driven by an unidentified female.

Sadly, the female driver of the Mercedes succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while Kalaba, the passenger in the car, suffered suspected internal injuries and was rushed to University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for urgent medical treatment.

The police report indicates that the accident was caused by improper overtaking by the Mercedes, resulting in a collision with the oncoming truck.

Rae Hamoonga, the Police Public Relations Officer, expressed condolences to the affected families and emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety regulations to prevent further tragedies.

He stated, “Our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time, and we urge all road users to prioritize safety and follow traffic rules diligently.”

The update follows a day of confusion and misinformation, with early reports erroneously declaring Kalaba dead.
