Watch|| learner chases others with a gun
The North West provincial police management has taken note of the video that was going viral on social media. He has expressed concern about it. This happened after a fight broke out between learners outside a school in Kruger Street, Wolmaransstad, on 7 September 2022.
A learner is accused of stealing a gun from his father during the altercation and chasing other learners with it. Fortunately, o shots were fired during the encounter.
Due to this, two cases of assault with the intent to cause serious bodily harm (GBH) and one instance of common assault were opened.
Consequently, the police confiscated the firearm which the child had in his possession while chasing fellow learners. Furthermore, a case has been opened for contravention of Section 120 (10) (a) of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000).
The motive of the incident is yet to be determined and no arrests have been effected at this stage. Investigations into the reported cases are underway.
