Unako Gcobo aged 17 was killed on her birthday
Unako Gcobo who was 17 years old, was out with a friend on Saturday, 22 October 2022, in Ginsberg.
Ginsberg is a place just outside King Williams Town. Unako Gcobo was at a tavern with her friend to celebrate her birthday. The celebration went on until early Sunday morning.
The two teenage friends were brutally murdered while returning home in the early hours of 23 October 2022 by unidentified suspects. The motive for the attack is still a mystery. The Gcobo family is pleading with anyone who may know something about the whereabouts of the culprits to come forward.
The culprits are still at large and no arrests have been made as of yet.
It was a somber mood on 29 October 2022, when Unako was laid to rest at Ginsberg’s Brownlee Congregational Church.
