Ukhozi FM song of the year claims one life as reveller is stabbed to death during argument

The power of music has always been evident in its ability to evoke emotions, bring people together, and even spark controversy.

However, in a tragic turn of events, a 25-year-old man lost his life due to a dispute over a song.

Khuzani Mpungose was announced as the winner of the Ukhozi FM Song of the Year, a decision that ignited a firestorm of criticism and anger.

The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve at a local store, where a quarrel broke out over the radio station’s choice for the song of the year.

The disagreement escalated to a violent confrontation, resulting in the stabbing death of the 25-year-old victim.

The KwaZulu-Natal police have since arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the murder.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the KZN police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Police in Ntambanana have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man who was allegedly stabbed to death at Ebhokisini Area.”

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of letting disagreements escalate into violence.

It is a stark reminder that our words and actions can have severe consequences. The power of music should bring people together, not tear them apart.

Unfortunately, Khuzani Mpungose, the winner of the Song of the Year, also faced abuse and hostility.

While performing on stage, he was booed and had bottles thrown at him.
