Two men killed on their way to dig a grave
Two young men were reportedly killed at Barberton’s Mjindini Trust after an alleged fight between gang rivals. According to reports, the incident happened on Friday, 14 October 2022, at approximately 8:30 a.m. the incident happened while a group of people were on their way to dig a grave in preparation for a funeral.
A group of about 20 people were making their way to the gravesite to dig a hole in preparation for a funeral that was set to take place on Saturday, 15 October 2022 after a grieving family lost a loved one. It is alleged that a fight broke out and shots were fired before they could get to the cemetery.
While shots were being fired some of the people are said to have fled, but when the dust had settled, two young men lay fatally wounded.
Out of the two young men who lay fatally wounded, one died at the site and the other passed away at a hospital. The two have not yet been identified by their relatives. One of the victims is 18 years old, while the age of the second victim is unknown. Police in Barberton opened a case with two murder counts, but no one has been taken into custody as of yet.

The reported acts of violence and the barbaric killing of the two young individuals have been harshly condemned.
