This is what happened between popular comedian, Elsa Majimbo, and Naomi Campbell

Kenyan chess champion and comedian Elsa Majimbo decided to reply to followers who have been on her case, asking more questions about  her mentor, Naomi Campbell. She dedicated a 8 minute video in which she gave some insights on the fallout between herself and Naomi.

Elsa described how she first met the British supermodel, their relationship’s development, and their current dynamic. Elsa laid it all out in her typical indoor video manner, relaying life events with her followers and slathering on shea butter like it’s going out of style. She took a road to memory lane about their first meeting in December 2020.

According to Elsa , she sent a direct Message to Naomi on Instagram asking if they could meet while she was in Nairobi for the third time since 2018. Elsa was just one of several content producers who gained popularity during the early-year pandemic lockdown. Naomi shared her address and Elsa was there in no time, accompanied by her brother.

During the meeting, it is said that the supermodel extended an invitation for them to go on vacation with her. Elsa could not contain her excitement to be rubbing shoulders with one of the world’s most famous models. She said they had a terrific time together.

Naomi proposed to Elsa one day while they were at the beach that she write a documentary on her life in Kenya. After that, she introduced Elsa to some Hollywood people, and some time after the holiday, Elsa went to the Nairobi Kempinski, a five-star luxury hotel, to hang out with members of Naomi’s team. At this point, one of them revealed that Naomi had informed them that Elsa’s success was because of her . Elsa clarified the situation by describing how and when they first met.

Naomi sent a message on her Instagram profile to commemorate Elsa’s 20th birthday in June 2021. At the moment, nothing looked amiss between them.

In March 2022 , Elsa stated that furious Naomi called to ask her about her short film, Elsa which is  a 15-minute film about her experience with colourism, bullying and comedy, directed by Julia Jansch. At the time Naomi thought Elsa side lined her and executed her documentary idea without her knowledge.

Elsa suggests that she promised to continue with that call on the following day but unfortunately could not due to a tight flight schedule and network issues. She says she then called a day later and by that time, Naomi told her it would be their last chat and wished her a good life. Elsa respected her decision and stayed out of her way.

But according to Elsa, “Things started going very badly for me. I thought it was because of the situation [with Naomi], but I wanted to be sure.” While the alleged negative turn in her career was not visible to the public, she tried to call Naomi and sent apology texts. She got no response until Naomi texted her to stop trying to contact her and told her that she has a child to take care of.

An encounter with Edward Enninful, ex-editor-in-chief of British Vogue, made Elsa realise the gravity of Naomi’s influence into her career taking a downward spiral. So then decided to take intiative contacted one of Naomi’s close friends to facilitate communication between them.

In January 2023, Naomi wished Elsa a happy new year.

Throughout the video, Elsa never stopped creaming her body in doses of cream and sprays. However,  she ended the video acknowledging the access and credibility Naomi’s influence gave her. Their relationship remains strained. “We’re not friends. We’re not enemies. We’re not anything.”
