Themba Zwane Launches AFCON Golden Boot Race After Sensational 2 Goal Performance

Bafana Bafana’s attacking midfielder, Themba Zwane, has emerged as a formidable contender in the race for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Golden Boot after a stellar performance against Namibia.

Zwane’s outstanding brace in the recent clash has propelled him into the spotlight, joining the ranks of top scorers in the tournament.

In a commanding 4-0 victory over Namibia, Zwane showcased his goal-scoring skills by netting two crucial goals.

His exceptional performance has not only contributed to South Africa’s success in the tournament but has also positioned him among the leading goal-scorers in AFCON.

As of now, Equatorial Guinea’s Emilio Nsue and Algerian standout Baghdad Bounedjah lead the Golden Boot race with three goals each.

Nsue made history by becoming the oldest player to score a hat-trick in AFCON during Equatorial Guinea’s 4-2 victory over Guinea-Bissau.

Bounedjah, on the other hand, contributed to Algeria’s goals in their matches against Angola and Burkina Faso.

Zwane finds himself in the company of other prominent goal-scorers such as Ghana’s Mohamed Kudus and Burkina Faso’s Bertrand Traore.

With the final Group E match against 2004 AFCON champions Tunisia looming, Themba Zwane recognizes the importance of the upcoming fixture.

“Tunisia is a strong opponent, and we need to be at our best to secure a positive result.”
