AmaZulu FC has officially bid farewell to defender Tercious Malepe, a player who has been in the spotlight for his impressive performances and has now attracted interest from European clubs.

However, with his recent fall down the pecking order at Usuthu, Malepe and the club have mutually agreed to part ways, opening the door for potential European opportunities.

The Tercious Malepe story

Tercious Malepe, originally a product of the Orlando Pirates youth academy, unfortunately never secured a spot in the first team.

Despite loans to Moroka Swallows, Ajax Cape Town, and two spells at Chippa United, Malepe’s breakthrough remained elusive.

In a surprising move, he ventured to Ukraine, joining FK Minaj for a season, before making a return to the South African top-flight with AmaZulu in August 2021.

Upon Malepe’s return to AmaZulu, he faced challenges with the arrival of head coach Pablo Franco Martin, which resulted in the versatile defender slipping down the team’s pecking order.

Additionally, Malepe was one of the highest earners at the club, prompting a mutual termination agreement as he sought regular first-team football.

While SuperSport United and Richards Bay were initially credited with interest, neither club made a move for Malepe.

Now, as a free agent, Malepe has caught the attention of Cypriot giants Anorthosis Famagusta, signaling a potential return to European football.

What Amazulu had to say

In an official statement, AmaZulu acknowledged Malepe’s departure, saying, “We appreciate Tercious Malepe’s contributions to AmaZulu FC. As he seeks new opportunities, we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
