Tavern shooting in Soweto leaves 14 dead
A tavern in Soweto had a tragic shooting that left 14 people dead. This happened just after midnight.
At Nomzamo Tavern in Orland 10 other people have been injured and three of them in critical condition.
Elias Mawela, who is the commissioner of the Gauteng Police, stated, “Yes, I can confirm that it did happen and it happened at about 12:30 am this morning.
“One site investigations show that the people were having a good time in the tavern.
Mawela said, “people just barged in and started shooting at them randomly.”
Detectives are on the site, according to Mawela.
“My detectives’ estimate of their ages is that they are between 19 and 35 years old.”
This incident comes just a few weeks after 21 underage children died in Eastern Cape.
Opinion on Tavern deaths
The recent trend of mass killings at drinking places is concerning. It brings a question of, is this the new normal?
One minute you are having a good time at a local pub and the next you are dead. The perpetrators of this incident should be caught and dealt with harshly. This will be to stop people from committing more mass killings.
