Tavern owner with drugs shot dead

Police have started an investigation for murder and are looking for suspects. This is after a 42-year-old tavern owner who was biking was shot and killed in Qonce on 6 November 2022.

Police responded to a report of a shooting in Fleet Street, Qonce, on Sunday, at about noon. A biker was shot numerous times and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. It is also said that a lady was shot in the upper torso by a stray gunshot and was taken to the hospital.

In addition to the report, police seized a 9mm weapon, an unspecified amount of cash, a black powder in a plastic bag, and 465 mandrax tablets. A forensic investigation will be conducted on the items confiscated.

According to information from police files, three armed persons started shooting at Thabo Justice Bheja, the tavern owner, who had stopped at a crossroads.

In August of this year, Thabo Justice Bheja, who ran a tavern in Sweetwaters, was arrested for the possession of illegal substances.

The night before his arrest, two people were shot and killed outside his Sweetwaters bar, which is where the cocaine bust took place.
