Suspected hitman dies in a hail of bullets
A suspected hitman who was working in the taxi industry and on the police’s most-wanted suspects list was fatally wounded in a shootout with police on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Officers from the Rapid Rail Police Unit and the Provincial Investigations and Tracking Task Team conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Seaview and captured the 35-year-old suspected hitmanat a home on Braid Avenue. Upon noticing the presence of police, the suspected hitman, who worked in the taxi industry in the South Coast area, fired shots at police and an exchange of gunfire ensued.

After the exchange of gunfire, it was determined that the suspect had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A pistol with a filed-off serial number and ammunition were found in his possession.
The suspect was wanted for six (6) murders involving taxi’s in Scottburgh and two murders in uMbumbulu.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) was notified for further investigation.

In a seperate in incident, Delft Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of an unknown man found in a bush on Monday, January 23, 2023 in the Gushindoda informal settlement, Symphony Way.
At the time of the murder, the deceased was dressed in purple shorts and a cream “Original Identity” t-shirt.
According to reports, the deceased has suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg and has multiple bruises all over his body. The motive for the murder is unknown, and the suspect or suspects have not yet been arrested.

Giving the police tip offs about a murder does not any help the police solve the case but also help families find closure.
