Stepson Nabbed for Attempted Murder of Step-Mother

On Thursday, 2 November 2023, a 33-year-old stepson was arrested in connection with the alleged attempted murder of his stepmother in October 2023. The arrest occurred during a multi-disciplinary operation Madimbo village in Vhembe District.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the stepson engaged in a heated argument with his stepmother, which escalated into a physical assault with a sharp object. The victim sustained severe upper body injuries and was subsequently admitted to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The motive behind the incident remains unclear, although unconfirmed reports indicate that the conflict between the two may have been related to the suspect selling cattle without the family’s consent.

Following the incident, the stepson fled the scene, and a case of attempted murder was reported at Masisi Police Station.

Upon receiving information about the suspect’s whereabouts, the police initiated an investigation that led to his discovery and subsequent arrest in Madimbo village, Tshamutumbu precinct, on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Masisi Periodical Court, where he will face charges of attempted murder. Police investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
