Rustenburg councilor shot and killed in a hit

Police in Rustenburg have initiated a manhunt following the murder of a 54-year-old Rustenburg Local Municipality Councillor on the evening of Friday, April 26, 2024, in Photsaneng village, located just outside Rustenburg.

Based on the information available at this time, the victim and her cousin were walking home from the shop and were approaching the gate when one of four unknown men who had been following them got closer and allegedly fired two shots.

The victim’s cousin ran into the yard and shouted for help, the victim’s brother exited the house and saw the suspects fleeing the scene in a BMW vehicle.

The victim, who was reportedly shot below the left ear and forehead, was declared deceased by Emergency and Medical Services (EMS).

The motive for the incident remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made yet.
